High screw boss DFM check
High screw boss overview
The high screw boss issues refer to situation when the height of the boss is much greater compared to the thickness.
High bosses are more susceptible to warping and shrinkage, and can also cause non-uniform cooling and blocking removal from the mold. Proper height value is required to avoid potential stress failures caused by thick regions.
High screw boss detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — analyzed boss height
- — analyzed boss thickness
- — maximum boss height to thickness ratio
How MTK detects high screw bosses
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for high screw bosses. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the high screw boss DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
