Irregular tab DFM check
Irregular tab overview
An irregular tab size issue can arise when the tabs or flanges, that are meant to connect different parts together, have irregular dimensions. This can lead to alignment issues and cause problems during the assembly process. It may also affect the overall strength and stability of the final product.
To address this issue, one may need to adjust the dimensions of the tabs or redesign the parts to ensure that they fit together properly.
Irregular tab detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following conditions are met:
where:
- — actual width of tab
- — actual length of tab
- — actual sheet thickness
- — minimum tab width to sheet thickness ratio from expected tab parameters
- — maximum tab length to tab width ratio from expected tab parameters
How MTK detects irregular tabs
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for irregular tabs. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the irregular tab DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
