Large milled part DFM check
Large milled part overview
Large milled part size can lead to challenges in CNC machining milling design.
Workpiece stability can be affected, causing poor surface finish and vibration during the machining process. Tool selection and cutting parameters may need to be adjusted, which can increase machining time and tool wear. Machine capabilities may also be limited, as not all machines can handle large workpieces.
Large milled part detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following conditions are met:
where:
- — actual milled part width
- — actual milled part length
- — actual milled part height
- — expected maximum milled part width
- — expected maximum milled part length
- — expected maximum milled part height
How MTK detects large milled parts
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for large milled parts. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the large milled part DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
