Narrow cutout DFM check
Narrow cutout overview
Narrow cutout issue refers to the problem where cutouts with a width smaller than required may cause incomplete cutting, slag accumulation, or dimensional inaccuracy.
This happens because the laser beam cannot reliably clear material in narrow sections, leading to unstable cutting, burn-through, or poor fit of mating parts.
Narrow cutout detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — cutout width
- — actual sheet thickness
- — expected minimum ratio of cutout width to sheet thickness
How MTK detects narrow cutouts
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for narrow cutouts. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the narrow cutout DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
