Small bend radius DFM check
Small bend radius overview
The small bend radius issue refers to a situation where the bend radius is smaller than the recommended one. When the bend radius is too small, the material is stretched too much, which can cause the material to crack or even break.
Additionally, a small bend radius can cause the material to distort, resulting in parts that are not as accurate as they should be.
Small bend radius detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — actual bend radius
- — actual sheet thickness
- — expected minimum bend radius to sheet thickness ratio
How MTK detects small bend radii
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for small bend radii. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the small bend radius DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
