Small distance between extruded hole and bend DFM check
Small distance between extruded hole and bend overview
When a hole is punched too close to the edge of a bend, it can create stress concentration in the metal around the hole. This can weaken the sheet metal part and may even cause it to fail.
Small distance between extruded hole and bend detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — actual distance between extruded hole and bend
- — actual thickness
- — expected minimum distance between extruded hole and bend to sheet thickness ratio
How MTK detects small distances between extruded holes and bends
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for small distances between extruded holes and bends. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the small distance between extruded hole and bend DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
