Small distance between hole and bend DFM check
Small distance between hole and bend overview
When a hole is drilled too close to the edge of a bend, it can create stress concentration in the metal around the hole. During the bending process, the metal around the hole may stretch or compress in a way that causes it to deform or tear. This can weaken the sheet metal part and may even cause it to fail.
Small distance between hole and bend detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — actual distance between hole and bend
- — actual thickness
- — expected minimum distance between hole and bend to sheet thickness ratio
How MTK detects small distances between holes and bends
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for small distances between holes and bends. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the small distance between hole and bend DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
