Small distance between hole and cutout DFM check
Small distance between hole and cutout overview
When a hole is drilled too close to the edge of a bend, it can result in a weakened area, making the sheet metal more prone to cracking or breaking. This can be especially problematic if the sheet metal is intended to support weight or pressure in its final use.
Small distance between hole and cutout detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
- — actual distance between hole and cutout
- — actual thickness
- — expected minimum distance between hole and cutout to sheet thickness ratio
How MTK detects small distances between holes and cutouts
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for small distances between holes and cutouts. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the small distance between hole and cutout DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
