Small hole diameter DFM check (sheet metal)
Small hole diameter overview
Small hole diameter issue refers to the problem where holes with a diameter of less than required may cause deformation or cracking of the metal. This happens because the force required to create the hole exceeds the yield strength of the material, causing it to buckle or distort.
Small hole diameter detection conditions
MTK identifies this issue when the following condition is met:
where:
– actual hole diameter
– expected minimum hole diameter
How MTK detects small hole diameters
MTK automatically analyzes B-Rep CAD models for small hole diameters. The SDK checks the relevant geometry against DFM criteria to identify potential issues that can increase manufacturing complexity or cost, or lead to quality or assembly problems.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for the small hole diameter DFM check is provided in the MTK documentation, including issue classes, detection interfaces, and integration details.
