Threads
Thread overview
An external thread is a helical ridge formed on the outer surface of a cylindrical feature. Common externally threaded parts include bolts, screws (including set screws), studs, threaded rods, eye bolts, anchor bolts, pipe fittings and adapters.
The helical thread is designed to mate with corresponding internal threaded components – such as tapped holes, nuts, and threaded inserts – providing secure and reliable mechanical fastening.
Thread parameters
A thread has the following basic parameters:
- Minor diameter
- Major diameter
- Length
- Pitch
How MTK recognizes threads
MTK automatically recognizes threads in B-Rep CAD models and extracts their manufacturing-relevant parameters. The recognized feature data can be used for automated quoting, DFM analysis, and manufacturing workflows.
Documentation and API reference
Detailed API reference for thread feature recognition is provided in the MTK documentation, including feature classes and integration details.
